PAST PRODUCTIONS

In 2007, John Graves produced "My Son, My Brother, My Friend" at Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia, PA. Shortly after, he began to build JGP to not only continue his artistic journey but to inspire the dreams of others within the company and the community. 

In 2023, JGP celebrated 16 years of producing plays and concerts. Plays include My Son My Brother, My Friend, The Christmas Musical, The No Name Play I & 2, Ambie Dickerson, The Perfects, A Conversation With God, Chapter 1 & "Miranda" - Chapter 2, Psychosis 224, Baltimo Jawja, Moses, and Black Kid Joy. Concerts include Heart Music 1 - 5, 100 Voices, Christmas with JGP, & Acoustic Nights. Dance Productions include Christ Human Condition.

BLACK NATIVITY

Debuted 2023 at the Levitt Theatre, Philadelphia, PA.

For decades, Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity has been a holiday favorite for families all over the world. JGP  brings in the holiday by taking their hand at this fan-favorite and holiday classic.

Here’s the story of a regular guy on a regular evening having a regular conversation with his best friend who happens to be God. They discuss life, love, purpose, and the “dirty” things that go on in the dark.

 

BLACK KID JOY

In a black boy’s journey through time, he learns the antiquity of who he is & worth of it all.  Despite tragedy, his reflection serves as the perfect gift in time for the Holiday. Click here

JGP Dance Co. & friends present their first dance production in 10 years, My Human Condition, an inspiring contemporary dance demonstration depicting the waves of man’s growing heart and sacred will to survive.

In this musical dramedy, 8 friends help a mother cope with the death of her son, their brother, and friend. As they embark on a heart-journey of laughter, good memories, love, & miracles, they remember the impact he made on their lives and the imprints he left on our hearts.

 

THE CHRISTMAS MUSICAL

Full of familiar holiday songs and captivating dance numbers, this show is sure to enthrall all who embark on the familiarity of celebration and rejoicing over the coming of the newborn King.

 

THE NO NAME PLAY

Written 2007. Debuted June 2008, at Freedom Theatre, Phila. PA.

Performed in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, & 2014, & 2018

 

In the largest epidemic the world has ever seen, individuals search desperately for their missing loved ones. “The No Name Play” is an astonishing depiction of future events according to the Holy Scriptures, a remarkable and thrilling story of love and conviction and the difficult choices they compel us to make.

 

  

THE NO NAME PLAY 2   

Written 2018. Debuted June 2018, at the Arts Bank, Phila. PA.

A prequel to JGP’s, “The No Name Play” Part 1, Lucifer’s growing vendetta against God is thwarted by a thorough plan of redemption and love. As Lucifer’s tactics and strategies are exposed, he grows thick with evil, and God’s people are prompted to uncover the truth about the unseen.

 

BALTIMO, JAWJA

Written 2006. Debuted June, 2009, at Freedom Theatre, Phila. PA.

Performed in 2009, 2010, 2011, & 2013

 

It’s 1963. A white man and wife move from Savannah, Georgia, to Baltimore, Maryland, to head a black church. The move forces him to deal with prejudice not only within the church and the community, but also within himself. This not only means facing the demons of pride, inequality, and injustice that have held this black neighborhood captive for so long but it also means dealing with his own convictions and going against all he has ever known.

 

AMBIE DICKERSON

Written 2010. Debuted, October 9, 2010 at the Adrienne Theatre, Phila. PA.

Performed in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, & 2024

 

In this hilarious comedy, ten strangers agree to participate in a documentary on sex, love, & relationships. As they reflect on their own journeys, they are forced to deal with their past, their present, their future, the challenges therein, and the daunting task of spending one day getting to know one another. ONE CAMERA. ONE ROOM. TEN STRANGERS.

 

PSYCHOSIS 224

Written 2011. Debuted 2011 at the Adrienne Theatre, Philadelphia, PA.

Performed in 2011, 2013, & 2024

 

A doctor moves to town to start his own practice and is fortunate to meet three individuals with psychological disorders. "PSYCHOSIS224" explores the lives of individuals dealing with mental and behavioral disorders and a doctor who will do whatever it takes to save their lives, even if it means losing his own.
