Building Meaning Through Performance, OcheaDonaghy

Ochea Donaghy’s ambition is rooted in longevity and purpose. Her goal is to build a sustainable career in the performing arts, telling stories that feel meaningful, fulfilling, and impactful. She is drawn to imaginative, character-driven storytelling and hopes one day to collaborate with visionary filmmakers such as Tim Burton and Richard Curtis. The through line is not fame. It is substance.

Her journey began early. At five years old, she saw Wicked in London’s West End. That single evening shifted something permanent. Inspired by the scale and magic of live performance, she asked to be enrolled in acting classes that very night. The decision marked the beginning of a path she has never abandoned.

Ochea’s training reflects both discipline and range. She began in London at PQA Studios, earning a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. She continued at Rose Bruford College, completing a Foundation Course in Acting before relocating to Los Angeles to earn her BFA in Acting from AMDA. There, she strengthened her craft across movement, voice, screen technique, and classical and contemporary performance. The transition from the UK to Los Angeles theater has shaped her adaptability and expanded her artistic vocabulary.

Among the projects she holds closest is Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus, a production featuring women and non-binary actors portraying historical male explorers. The work challenged traditional casting conventions and offered a bold reexamination of history through an inclusive lens. For Ochea, the experience reinforced her belief that contemporary stage production can question assumptions while remaining collaborative and inventive.

Now stepping into PERFECTS 2 with John Graves Productions, she enters the independent theater in LA community at a moment of growth and visibility. As an emerging actor in LA who recently graduated, she sees opportunity in the evolving arts landscape. She is encouraged by the increasing emphasis on diverse voices and new storytelling, yet she also hopes to see more consistent theatre and live performance opportunities in Los Angeles. Contributing to a stronger, more visible live theater scene in LA feels both necessary and personal.

Having graduated in October, Ochea is newly immersing herself in the professional industry. Her focus is clear: build strong creative collaborations, audition consistently, and remain fully present in each opportunity. PERFECTS 2 represents an early step in what she intends to be a long and deliberate career within Los Angeles theater and beyond.

Her father’s advice guides her perspective: Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere. The reminder keeps her grounded. Action over fear. Movement over hesitation. For Ochea Donaghy, the work is not about standing still. It is about building forward, one story at a time.
